Slash Says Charlie Sheen Is Totally 'Rock n' Roll'

Charlie Sheen has a fan in his neighbor Slash, who's impressed by how he's enjoyed a hard partying lifestyle while still being a successful actor.

Speaking to Australian radio station Triple M Sydney on The Grill show, Slash -- himself a reformed drug addict -- said: "I love Charlie -- he's probably the most rock n' roll character in entertainment today.

"He's been managing to get away with what he's been doing on that show and get a raise for more than 10 years. I think that's pretty cool."

Charlie's erratic behavior and public attack on Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre have led to production on the hit series being halted and have led to questions about his well-being.
However, he has undergone home rehab treatment and has insisted he is currently clean, even passing drug tests prior to giving interviews.

Despite the apparent chaos in his life, the 45-year-old actor has revealed he is now concentrating on his family, which includes two daughters, Sam, six, and Lola, five, from his marriage to Denise Richards and 23-month-old twin boys, Bob and Max, from his marriage to Brooke Mueller.

Referring to his sons, Charlie -- who also has an adult daughter Cassandra from a previous relationship -- told E! News: "The babies live with me, they're in the kitchen right now. They run around and they're as fun as you can imagine. They say 'Dada' and run into walls. And Dada is cool, but when they run into walls I say, 'Don't do that, that's retarded.' "

Charlie also isn't worried about being currently being jobless, adding: "I'll do a cologne and a book, I'll do a movie, I got people lunging at me.

Katie Holmes Sues 'Star' Magazine for $50 Million

Katie Holmes just filed a hefty lawsuit against Star magazine over a recent cover that insinuated that she's a drug addict, reports TMZ. The actress seeks $50 million in damages from American Media Inc. over the cover headline, which reads: "ADDICTION NIGHTMARE - Katie DRUG SHOCKER! – The Real Reason She Can’t Leave Tom"

Katie Holmes (Bauer Griffin)
The actual article doesn't allege that Katie uses drugs, but the actress claims the cover wording is enough to be deliberately defamatory and libelous in itself.

The actress' rep told TMZ: "Star magazine's malicious claims about Katie are untrue, unethical and unlawful.  Not only do they cruelly defame Katie, they play a cheap trick on the public, making ridiculously false claims on the cover unsupported by anything inside."

Justin Bieber Turns 17, Asks Fans to Donate to Charity In His Honor

Justin Bieber doesn't need any birthday gifts for his 17th birthday today, so he's asking his adoring fans to redirect their moolah to help an organization that could really benefit from a little extra cash. The Bieb has been tweeting up a storm today, asking followers to donate to the American Cancer Society in his honor.

The instructions for donating on the Bieb's big day, as posted on his page today, are as follows: "Fight cancer & donate $10 to ACS in honor of JB’s bday: text BDAY to 20222."

Yesterday he asked fans to donate to mycharity:water, an organization that helps get clean water to families in need. He wrote on his page that he had already helped earn millions for the organization. "Thanks to all you Beliebers, we hit $7 million raised on mycharity: water today! #makeachange" he wrote.

So, if the Bieb isn't being showered with gifts from his tween fans, what is he doing on his special day? Well, he's definitely eating cake and hanging out with his grandparents!

He tweeted yesterday: " less than 24 hours until my BDAY!! Getting grandma's cake and figuring out the best way to use my bday...got some great ideas...so... "

Phoenix Suns Vs. Indiana Pacers Game

By now, we Suns fans realize that no lead is safe. The one consistent attribute of the this squad for the past several years is that this team is built to score in bunches. But what comes up usually comes down my friends, no?

The Phoenix Suns found themselves up by as many as 15 points, led by Grant Hill's 34 and 9. Inevitably the lead was erased by a resurgent, scrappy Pacers squad. While many of us were ready to accept a second overtime, Channing Frye had other thoughts, draining the game winner as the clock expired.

Star-divide

The Suns led by as many as 10 points in the opening stanza, as Grant Hill dropped 14, giving truth to the addage that old people love to wake up early and of course, go to bed early. Aided by 5 Suns turnovers, the Pacers went on a 9-3 run to close the quarter, with the Suns hanging on to a 33-29 lead.

In the second, Aaron Brooks made his Suns debut scoring his first point as a Sun via free throw on a defensive technical. Jared Dudley went crazy with 9 points (and yet another DUNK!)

At the close of the half, the Suns led 60-51, their third straight half scoring 60+ points.  The Pacers 14 turnovers led to 14 more Suns field goal attempts. Hill led all Suns scorers with 20 points.

In the 4th, the Pacers made their first 5 field goal attempts and A.J. Price sank a 3 to cut the lead to 89-86. After 5 more Price points and nearly 3 minutes of offensive futility by the Suns, the lead was gone and the Suns found themselves down 3. A Grant Hill 3 tied the game up and forced the game to OT.

After losing a 7 point lead, the Suns had the ball with 23 ticks left while the Pacers had a foul to give. After draining the clock, the Suns called a TO with 3.5 ticks left....We all know what went down after that: Nash to Frye....BOOYAH.

My grandfather’s test works in NFL

After all this time, Charles Wonderlic still can’t help but be amazed that his family name is synonymous with NFL talent evaluation.

His grandfather, E.F. “Al” Wonderlic, didn’t have a keen eye for judging the quality of a quarterback’s throwing motion or a cornerback’s backpedaling skills. He did, however, know a thing or two about gauging one’s intelligence, and in 1937 he devised a written examination that does precisely that.

In 1975, the NFL began giving potential draft picks what has since simply become known as “The Wonderlic,” a timed and proctored assessment that measures an individual’s ability to learn, understand instructions and solve problems. The questions cover areas such as word and number comparisons, simple math, sentence forming, and graphs.

Charles was 12 at the time, so he didn’t quite grasp the significance of it all. But while making his annual visit to the NFL Scouting Combine — where college prospects are taking the test, along with being put through a battery of physical drills to help determine their draft worthiness — he reflected on its staying power.

“It works,” Wonderlic said. “People don’t do things for long periods of time that don’t work. Things don’t last 35 years for happenstance.”

NFL talent evaluators like “The Wonderlic” because it can be conducted with relative quickness and efficiency. However, through the years, it has weathered a fair amount of controversy. From time to time, critics have challenged its validity, asking a basic question: Why would anyone care how bright a football player is, especially one who has the physical qualities necessary to play the game at the highest level?

“Go ask any of the players if they think that intelligence matters on the field,” Wonderlic said. “What do you think they’re going to say, no? Of course it does. There are different jobs that have different mental demands.

“In this case, we’re not saying that we’re looking to hire the brightest people necessarily. We say there’s a certain amount of intelligence necessary to perform. More is better, usually, but people learn at different speeds.”

Sample 'Wonderlic' Test

One of the more interesting tests the players at the NFL Scouting Combine have to take is not even on the gridiron. It's in the classroom and it's the intimidating 'Wonderlic' Test, which supposedly goes a long way towards measuring a player's "Football IQ." The history of the test includes some very interesting scores, both at the high and low end. A few years ago, former University of Texas and Tennessee Titans QB Vince Young reportedly scored a '6' on the test. At the same time, Buffalo Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick scored a '50' and Washington Redskins QB Donovan McNabb got a '14' on his test.

Does this really matter in terms of translating into a good, or bad NFL player? That still remains to be seen with scores all over the place for both good and not-so-good players in the league. Regardless, it's still an interesting topic for conversation around the NFL Combine.

Skirvin Crying Baby

I flew to Oklahoma City on Wednesday through See during play a home game "on my bucket list. After the Nets beat the Zombies, I joined friends at Mickey Mantle (local restaurant) for a late dinner and some beers before heading back to my room. I stayed at the Skirvin, a local hotel that is supposed inhabited by a ghost named Effie. According to legend, Effie got hit by the guy who owned the hotel in the 1920s, then jumped from a window with the baby. She was allegedly haunting the place since.
When we were in control, I jokingly asked the clerk to put me on one floor haunted. She said she did. We laughed and that was the end of it. That night, I was so tired that ghost stories never entered my mind. I prepared for bed, called my wife, watched 10 minutes of "SportsCenter" and fell asleep. So you know I am a heavy sleeper. Once I got out, I'm out.
That's what makes it so strange when I woke up at 4:30 with a beating heart. I swear on Tom Brady's ACL that the following events: Initially, I heard a baby crying and I realized why I woke up. I thought it was one of my own children before remembering that my kids are not babies, then remembering that I was in Oklahoma City, not Los Angeles. Suddenly it dawned on me that I was not alone. I had an unbearable feeling that someone else was in the room. Until you've experienced this feeling, you can not understand what it is. Your blood is humming in your veins at 200 mph; you do not understand why - your body reacts a few seconds before your brain does. The emergency and I freaked out as much as him to cry. I fumbled for the switch, could not find it, dig, dig a little more, then finally turned on the light. The sound stopped crying. I jumped out of bed and turned on every light in the room. I turned on the television and pushed the volume. Then I grabbed my Blackberry and googled "Skirvin baby cry."
I kept the lights on. And television. And that's how I spent the next three hours and half and half-asleep, half awake and totally scared. The words "Man Up" do not enter the equation. Not even a little. I came to Oklahoma City to Durant and Westbrook left and tell stories about Baby Effie. Just know that the next time someone tells me a ghost story, I think.

She added: "I don't mind aging. I've never been a classical beauty. I've always had that Playboy vibe. I don't want to chase youth. Anyway, I find it chases me.....Read More

MARTIAL LAW UK

UK police chief Sir Paul Stephenson is considering whether to ask the British government to ban protest marches altogether in response to last week’s student riots, a move that would place Britain under a de facto state of martial law.It is one of the tactics we will look at and something we will keep under review, and if we think it is the right thing to do then we will do it, said the Metropolitan Police commissioner.NUS president Aaron Porter responded: Peaceful protest is an integral part of our heritage and it is the responsibility of the police to help facilitate that.Although the establishment media in Britain dutifully blamed the protesters for the violent scenes witnessed during the demonstrations, it later emerged that police had been behind a number of provocations that caused the running street battles, including pulling a disabled man out of a wheelchair and dragging him across the street, as well as repeatedly beating protesters on the head with batons. The use of kettling to confine protesters into a tight area has also been heavily criticized for only heightening rage amongst the demonstrators.......Read More

A Terrible Performance on a Good Day

A Terrible Performance on a Good Day:About fifteen minutes before kickoff of the Bears versus Patriots debacle in the amazing setting that was a snowy Soldier Field, the Lions beat the Green Bay Packers and handed our Wisconsin rivals their second loss in the NFC North. As I walked over to to meet Shady and Noah at our seats in Section 120 I heard not one but several fans utter the same phrase. "That makes this game meaningless now." To a certain extent, that sentiment was true and the Chicago Bears certainly played like it. (Side note: Shady did the bloggers quite proud yesterday. A good, good dude.)

Yesterday's game against the New England Patriots did not mean anything in terms of breaking ties for a division crown or wild card appearance. Yesterday was an opportunity to see if the Bears were elite. And guess what? They're not. This is not a doomsday moment, not the end of the world. The Bears don't have to beat the Patriots to make it to Dallas in February. They'll have to beat Atlanta or New Orleans or Philadelphia. Each of those games could go either way, depending on location and whether Mr. Smith has decided to prepare his defense that week. (Apparently he was unaware the Pats like to throw underneath Wes Welker and the tight ends and thinks you should run man-coverage with no time left in the half. Seriously Lovie...way to mail that one in.) The Bears are as good as any team in their conference. They are not as good as the best team in the NFL.......Read More

My dad would be proud of record breaker Fergie

My dad would be proud of record breaker Fergie:Sir Matt Busby's son knows exactly how his father would respond to Sir Alex Ferguson overtaking him as Manchester United’s longest-serving boss.

“If he were here now my dad would hold a gun to Alex’s head and make him sign a new contract for another five years,” said Sandy Busby.

“He would be so proud of what Alex has achieved for United and I know he couldn’t think of a better man to succeed him as the club’s longest-serving manager.”

Fergie will reach that remarkable landmark on Sunday when United play Chelsea, passing Sir Matt’s longevity in the club’s record books almost a quarter of a century since arriving at Old Trafford.....Read More

Grocer Files For Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Grocer Files For Chapter 11 Bankruptcy:The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., once the nation's largest grocer, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as it struggles with enormous debt and increased competition from low-priced peers.

The 151-year-old company, based in Montvale, N.J., operates 395 stores around the Northeast under the A&P, Waldbaum's, The Food Emporium, Super Fresh, Pathmark and Food Basics grocery stores banners.

The filing was widely anticipated. The company – known to most as A&P – has been bleeding red ink for some time. According to the filing submitted late Sunday in bankruptcy court in White Plains, N.Y., the company listed total debts of more than $3.2 billion and assets of about $2.5 billion.....Read more

Jets coach trips Dolphins player during game

Jets Coach:I take all the information from different site and internet media and specially google help me alot for this so i can say that CBS Sports replays showed Jets head strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi stick his knee out and lean toward the field to trip Miami Dolphins gunner Nolan Carroll, who was running down the sideline to cover a punt with 3:11 left in the third quarter Sunday.

Carroll crumpled to the turf with a knee injury. Dolphins trainers tended to him on the field during the commercial break. He limped off the field under his own power and eventually returned to the game. The Dolphins won 10-6.....Read More

Metrodome Roof Collapsed

Metrodome Roof Collapsed:The Pittsburgh Steelers won a huge game last week on the road in Baltimore, beating the Ravens in the Blood & Guts Bowl 13-10 in a great defensive battle. This week, they have to guard against a letdown at home as the 2-10 Cincinnati Bengals come to Heinz Field. The Bengals have had a very disappointing season, but they’d like nothing better than to catch the Steelers napping. However, the Steelers also know that they have to win out to keep the Ravens from taking back the lead in the division, and they have a tough game next week against the Jets — which means they have to get wins. Look for a lot of Mendenhall and the running game and some big-time defensive plays from Pittsburgh to win this one, 28-13.....Read more
